Producer/Project Manager
Pre-production, production, and post: Let me help with planning, talent search, casting, and problem solving. I can find resources, negotiate contracts, distribution deals and riders, or find a lawyer. I cold call anyone about anything.
Script Development/Creative Consultant
I offer great listening and feedback, creative problem solving, and constructive critique. I provide a fresh take on sticking points or gaps in the story, encourage you to keep moving forward, and help focus the creative process.
Marketing/Outreach
Let me help you find new ways to spread the word about your event or brainstorm for partnerships. Do you need to organize your board members or team for a campaign? I can design a strategy and draft a plan of action.
Bio
Cheryl Simas Valenzuela has worked in creative and business capacities throughout the arts. Her experience includes promotions, fundraising, contract negotiations, and cold calling anyone for whatever was needed.
She’s worked with actors and directors, dancers, filmmakers, writers, and visual artists. And, has been on the staff of arts organizations of all sizes from Broadway producing companies to grassroots collectives.
She has planned events and productions, partnering with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco Yerba Buena Center, and San Francisco Public Library.
Partial list of credits: PRODUCER – For the indie feature, The Stranger in Us, (2010), distributed in over 15 countries and available on Netflix and LOGO. DIRECTOR – For Left Coast Theatre Company SALES MANAGER – Five years on the business staff of Steve Silver’s Beach Blanket Babylon, as Box Office and Special Events Sales Manager. ASSOC. STAGE MANAGER – For Cameron Mackintosh, with Les Miserables national touring company. LIGHTING DESIGNER – For Zakros InterArts, Holly Near, Laurie Anderson and Ed Mock.
