Dear Friends,
At last – the update on A Wake, Paperback Film’s latest feature.
As you know, A Wake was screened for cast, crew, and special guests, on Thursday September 13th.
We packed the beautiful New People Cinema with over 120 guests for a pre-show reception of wine, veggie hors d’oeuvre, and sliders.
Earlier in the week, we’d had some technical challenges, which, thanks to our amazing editor, Matt Hale, were resolved and the screening went smoothly!
After the film we had a short Q & A and introduced the actors to the audience.
It was a major scheduling challenge to get the lead actors all in the same place at the same time, but it happened and we were so pleased to have: Noah Urrea (between tour dates with Now United), Kolton Stewart, (who had to scoot out early to get to the southland for a call-back), and Sofia Rosinsky, (fresh from a Disney shoot), all in attendance.
Most of the cast was there including Megan Trout, Bettina Devin, and Kevin Karrick.
Post screening, we mingled a while over delicious tarts and cakes, and final toasts of the night.
We’re still in search of a composer (give us a shout if you know of anyone). We’re looking for a sound like early God Speed You! Black Emperor, or Red Sparowes), and we’re cleaning up some details on sound and effects. So the editing team is still hard at work.
We’ve begun submitting to festivals, and that will continue for a while.
You can see more pics from the screening on the A Wake FB page.
Reach out to us any time, we love hearing from you. Cheers!
Scott and Cheryl
